Megan Pacey, Chief Executive of Early Education and member of the Nutbrown Review Expert Panel said:
“Early Education welcomes the recommendations of the Nutbrown Review and commends Professor Nutbrown for her sound work in mapping out a new long term vision for the early years workforce. The recommendations, which centre largely on ensuring all qualifications are robust and focused on child development, if implemented, will ensure that all practitioners working with the youngest children have a thorough understanding of how children learn.
“The Nutbrown Review recommendations require long term commitment as well as investment, but represent excellent value for money. Early Education urges this government, and all successive governments, to commit to supporting and funding their initial and ongoing implementation.”

Notes to editors:
1. This press release relates to the launch of the final report of Nutbrown Review into early education and childcare qualifications that was led by Professor Cathy Nutbrown on Tuesday 19 June 2012.
2. Professor Nutbrown has made 19 recommendations that focus on the importance of quality. Her recommendations are set to improve the skills, knowledge and understanding of those who work with young children to give them a positive early education and childcare experience and the best possible start in life. They are based on firm evidence which shows that having a quality workforce helps young children grow, learn and develop in their early years and achieve a successful transition to school. 3. Early Education was founded in 1923. Almost ninety years later we continue to remain committed to supporting families and the professional development of all those working in early childhood education to ensure effective early childhood education experiences of the highest quality for all children across the United Kingdom. Through our work as a registered charity, we support both strategically and practically, more than 7,000 individuals working across early childhood education each year. We endeavour to effect change and respond rapidly to the changes in the early childhood education policy and practice landscape through consultation, campaigning and dialogue with policy makers as well as practically through projects, publications and resources, training and professional development and information and advice.
