This is a webinar that will re-energise and provide accessible, inspirational and practical guidance as well as developing understanding in the theoretical underpinnings of how, why and what we can do to make learning as poly-sensorial, irresistible and joyful to children as we can. Following the isolating effects of the pandemic and the upcoming EYFS reforms in September, what are the first-hand experiences, contexts, environments, materials and ways of being that will support and engage all our young children’s curiosity from Birth to 5, including support for communication, language and vocabulary? How can we promote curiosity as a basis for developing relationships that enable learning and thinking together in environments ‘rich’ with creative possibilities and ‘intelligent’ materials? How do we capture the imagination and the sense of ‘exploring to understand the world’ that surrounds young children? And finally, how do we as the adults in their lives, notice and respond to the connections young children are making, the ideas that arise and the things that capture their interests? We will explore environments and practice from Pre-Schools in Sweden and from Reggio Emilia in Italy, as well as UK based settings to reflect on what works, what captivates and how in switching our thinking from being a provider to a curator of materials enriches curiosity and develops learning contexts that are just simply irresistible to all our young children.
The webinar will take place on the following dates and times:
Session 1: 1st July, 4pm-5.30pm
Session 2: 8th July, 4pm-5.30pm
