Animal - assisted interventions: working with children and animals

Aims and objectives - Delegates will have opportunities to:

  • explore what is meant by ‘animal-assisted interventions’
  • consider how animal-assisted interventions can be beneficial for learning across the curriculum
  • consider the research evidence underpinning the benefits of animal assisted interventions, for example on personal, social and cognitive development in young children
  • explore possible strategies to include animal-related provision in your setting, in a safe, humane and ethical manner.
