Children Initiating Their Own Learning – Exploring the Unique Child

This course will explore the most appropriate ways to support and enrich young children’s learning, which respects and encourages their own thinking and ideas, leading to independence, high self-esteem, resilience and great involvement in deeper-level learning.

This course will:

  • Look at the roles of adults as educators and co-learners
  • Explore aspects of the ‘learning climate’ which promote independent learning
  • Consider the impact of the organization of time, space and resources on children’s confidence and independence
  • Explore the principles of listening actively to children and documenting their independent learning
