Homemade books can hold a special magic for children and adults alike. This course will equip participants with the skills and confidence to create a series of simple and inspiring books to take away and use in their settings immediately.
- Make a selection of homemade books using a variety of creative materials, tools and media.
- Discuss how children can be supported to create their own books, and how these can help to develop positive links between families and settings.
- Deepen their understanding of how homemade books can be used as a tool for documentation, as well as enhance all areas of learning and development, but in particular, drawing and writing.
- See different settings’ approaches to using homemade books, and consider how best to use their books with the babies and young children they work with.
Materials will be provided, but participants are asked to bring an empty cereal box (sm or med size) and, if they wish, photographs of children they care for (with permission) for their books.
