Sharing knowledge of schemas with parents

Aims: To give parents a shared language that they can use to describe and discuss the complexities of their children's learning and development.

Course outline:

  • Supporting parents to make observations in the home and in different context
  • Planning next steps to support schematic learning at home
  • Providing support, guidance and challenge for schematic play at home
  • Involving parents in the assessment process (two year old progress check and Early Years Foundation Stage Profile).

Objective: delegates will be able to share knowledge of how children learn with their parents.

Audience: practitioners working in the field on early years with children aged 0-7 years.
