Rowland Hill Nursery School and Children’s Centre is looking for a coopered governor. Rowland Hill is a Nursery School and Children's Centre that has been part of the local community since 1942. We offer a range of services for families from maternity services, outreach, home visiting, adult learning and education for children aged from 2 years up until they transfer to Reception.
Rowland Hill’s vision is that everyone who attends, children, families and staff feel included and valued. We personalise each child’s learning by building on their individual interests, skills and strengths. We do this through strong partnerships; building trusting relationships that benefit both the school and the child. High expectations are critical to include every child and are underpinned by the principle that everyone can succeed given the opportunity and it
is their right to be included. At Rowland Hill we want families and children to have the very best of experiences, to build together a platform of resilience from which to grow for the rest of their lives.
We are located in North East Tottenham, London an area of deprivation, with a diverse population representing a rich cultural and ethnic mix. The main ethnic groups attending are Black African, Black Caribbean, White British, Turkish and Eastern European. On average, 60% of children speak English as an additional language and some children are trilingual. Currently at Rowland Hill we have 27 languages spoken
by families attending the centre. Our intake of children with identified special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is much higher than the average school, currently 28% of the cohort are children with SEND. The staff team at Rowland Hill have developed a very good level of expertise when working with children with diverse needs.
Up to 244 part time or 122 full time children aged between 2 - 5 years can attend the Nursery School daily and approximately 900 families use the Children's Centre services over the year.
