Observing, documenting and sensitively interpreting children’s learning is the most respectful and effective means of planning a curriculum, which is meaningful and responsive to children’s true interest and needs. Using examples from our Nursery and by drawing on the work of early years educators in New Zealand and Regiio Emilia, Italy, this course offers participants the opportunity to consider what we mean by ‘documentation’ and ‘ learning stories’ and how they can be used to assess and plan effectively.
This course will:
- Establish a clear understanding of the philosophy and practice underpinning documenting.
- Consider practical ways to make children’s learning visible
- Explore ways in which documentation may be used to inform planning.
