Planning for children’s play – develop and support high quality block play

Children’s natural desire to build and construct ensures that continuous provision of blocks is integral to quality practice within the Early Years Foundation Stage.  This course will explore the range of meaningful and relevant learning opportunities available to children in well-planned block play and consider how best to support and extend children’s learning.

This course will:

  • Identify the key features that underpin the effective organization of this area of provision
  • Explore the different ways children use blocks
  • Focus on the key role of the adult in supporting, extending and challenging children’s play
  • Identify and demonstrate key features that ensure effective teaching and progression of learning.
