Areas of expertise
Jane has worked as an independent coach, trainer and facilitator for the past 5 years, building on her leadership experience as a headteacher in a nursery, infant and primary schools, as an Assistant Director in the Sure Start Unit of the DfE (where she was part of the team developing and taking the first EYFS through Parliament) and as an Early Years advisor for the National Strategies. She holds a post-graduate coaching Diploma from the Institute of Leadership and Management and is an associate member of the Association for Coaching (AMAC) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council. She is also an accredited Myers Briggs practitioner and Action Learning facilitator.
With over 30 years of experience working in the education sector, Jane understands the complex environment faced by both new and experienced senior and middle leaders in education. She has worked as a coach and coaching trainer with leaders and practitioners from across the sector, helping them to maximise their own potential and learn how to unlock potential in others without being over directive. She also teaches others how to coach. Coaching has its own unique set of skills, harder to do well than they first appear and Jane’s approach to training is very practical and focused on developing skills and confidence in real situations.
She is passionate about providing a safe and rich reflective space where her clients can learn how to overcome barriers, harness creativity and make a real difference for the children and young people we work with. Her coaching and training styles have been described as positive, forward moving, insightful and practical.
In addition to her coaching and consultancy practice, Jane is also a governor at a local primary school and a trustee of the Roald Dahl Museum.
“Very imformative and gives you new options on how to deal with problems and general situations. It encourages you to be a more reflective practitioner. Jane is a very engaging course leader – I love the humour interjected into the sessions. I think when training is delivered in this way you remember the sessions and the new knowledge imparted” Southwark Nursery School 2014
