What is it that sparks an idea? What occurs when an exploration of a material or resource such as clay, a camera, paint, blocks transform to an expression of a thought, feeling or idea? How do the ideas of children rise up? How do we notice them? And what do we do with them, to explore and expand upon them? When children think with materials the wonder of ‘what if?’ ignites their sense of agency and motivates them in powerful ways to seek wonder in the world. We will reflect on the ways in which educators can both support and promote thinking with materials across areas of Development and Learning. We will discover how we can put everyday materials into a conversation with ideas. We will consider how concepts and the children’s own questions and enquiries can be supported and generated by curating and designing spaces that amplify modes of thinking. We will discover how to connect with children’s curiosity and wonderment about the world that surrounds them to support their learning, their cognitive development in creative, imaginative and innovative ways.
The webinar will take place on the following dates and times:
